“Decades Later: Plea for Info in Unsolved Bowie Concert Murder”

A fresh plea has been issued regarding the case of a young mother who was killed following a David Bowie concert at Slane Castle almost four decades ago. Antoinette Smith went missing after attending the concert in Co Meath on July 11, 1987, along with a friend. The body of the 27-year-old mother of two was discovered nine months later in Co Wicklow.

Following the concert, they returned to Dublin by bus and visited a nearby discotheque. While at the club, they encountered two acquaintances and left together after 2 am. Ms. Smith’s friend departed from the group later, leaving Ms. Smith with the two men. Eventually, they all walked to a taxi rank on O’Connell Street. The men took a taxi to Ballymun, while Ms. Smith continued walking towards O’Connell Street Bridge past the Gresham Hotel.

Her husband reported her missing shortly after. Ms. Smith’s daughters, Lisa and Rachel, were seven and four years old respectively when she disappeared. Authorities at Bray Garda Station are using the anniversary to ask the public for any information. They urge individuals with potential information, considering possible changes in relationships over the years, to come forward. Gardaí assured that they would handle any assistance to the investigation with sensitivity.
