The announcement was made in the traditional manner through a press release from the Treasury, appointing Nigel Paul Farage as Steward and Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead.
Following Farage’s resignation announcement and the ensuing by-election, major parties, including Labour, the Tories, the Lib Dems, Greens, and Restore, declined to field candidates in Clacton. Satirical figure Count Binface emerged as Farage’s only apparent rival.
In response to the situation, Keir Starmer criticized Farage, calling him a “complete charlatan” who has resorted to desperate measures. Starmer highlighted Farage’s avoidance of questions regarding his finances and parliamentary investigation, portraying him as exposed and lacking credibility.
