A flight operated by British Airways from Barbados to London had to be canceled as crew members were alleged to have been intoxicated at a hotel shortly before the scheduled departure. The flight, designated as BA254, was supposed to depart from Bridgetown at 4.25pm local time on Sunday and land at London Heathrow at 6.15am on Monday, affecting around 336 passengers.
According to reports from the Press Association, several British Airways crew members have been suspended pending an investigation. The Sun newspaper detailed that the crew members were involved in a drinking session with vodka and beer at a hotel before the flight, resulting in one female crew member vomiting and a male colleague collapsing.
The incident reportedly occurred at a beachfront hotel known for hosting honeymooners, although the specific hotel was not disclosed. It was mentioned that other guests at the hotel recorded the crew members, with one allegedly proclaiming their affiliation with British Airways in response to onlookers.
In response to the situation, a spokesperson for British Airways stated, “We hold our crew to the highest standards and are currently conducting a thorough investigation into this matter.”
