A family in California has shared that they are staying in their vehicles to stay close to their daughter who was attacked by a group of dogs. The seven-year-old girl, known as Patricia, was assaulted in the Corning area of Tehama County on June 27, sustaining severe injuries to her head and legs, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.
An online fundraiser initiated by her grandmother, Monica Edmiston, disclosed that Patricia was in critical condition after the brutal attack, with her scalp torn off and multiple wounds on her body. She was initially treated at a local hospital and later airlifted to a trauma center for further medical care, undergoing emergency surgery at UC Davis Medical Center.
Updates from the fundraiser indicated Patricia’s improving condition, with plans for her to return home soon. The family expressed gratitude for the community’s support and the funds raised, surpassing $4,100. Patricia’s father and brothers resorted to sleeping in their car in Sacramento to be near her, prompting the fundraiser for essential expenses.
The Corning Union Elementary School District conveyed well wishes for Patricia’s recovery, acknowledging her as one of their students. Authorities seized six dogs believed to be involved in the incident for investigation at the Tehama County Animal Shelter. The case remains under investigation.
