Two young boys have tragically lost their lives after being reportedly left in a car for sleeping while on a holiday island. The boys, aged eight and ten, were discovered deceased inside the vehicle parked near a residential area in Cyprus. The incident occurred in the British base of Dhekelia, where authorities from the British bases responded to the scene.
According to local reports, the boys, of Bulgarian descent, were left in the car to rest, leading to severe muscle stiffness and sunburn. The children’s father and stepmother have been apprehended by the police on suspicion of negligence related to the tragic event. Investigative efforts are ongoing at a residence in Xylophagou in the Famagusta district to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
While the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed, preliminary observations suggest signs consistent with asphyxiation. Forensic examinations are scheduled to ascertain the precise cause of the tragic outcome. This heartbreaking incident coincides with a heatwave sweeping through parts of Europe, resulting in a series of similar incidents across the continent.
In a separate event in France, an 18-month-old infant perished after being left in a car by the parents, succumbing to hyperthermia due to the intense heat inside the vehicle. Additionally, a mother in France is facing manslaughter charges following the deaths of her four-year-old daughter and two-year-old son, who were found deceased in a locked car. The mother left the children unattended in the parked vehicle, leading to this tragic outcome.
