A tragic incident occurred last week in the Caribbean involving a passenger from Royal Caribbean who passed away while snorkeling. The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was aboard the Star of the Seas cruise ship, the only vessel at the port during the incident.
Reports indicate that the guest disembarked at a Caribbean island’s port with their family to participate in a snorkeling excursion in St. Maarten’s beautiful waters. Unfortunately, the guest experienced a medical emergency during the activity and was swiftly taken back to Port St. Maarten for medical assistance, where they were later pronounced deceased.
Following the unfortunate event, the family chose to have the passenger’s body placed in the ship’s morgue instead of repatriating them from the island. Details regarding the nature of the medical emergency and whether the snorkeling tour was booked through the cruise line or an external vendor remain unclear.
Royal Caribbean has been reached out to for comment regarding the incident.
