“UK Braces for Thursday Soaking: Rain To Soak Large Regions, Heat Wave in Some”

Weather forecasts from the Met Office indicate that a significant band of rain is expected to soak large portions of the UK this Thursday. While some regions may experience temperatures reaching up to 30C, other areas are likely to encounter wetter conditions.

According to the forecast maps, a 500-mile stretch of rain will cover extensive areas of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England, and North Wales throughout Thursday. Additionally, the southern parts of England could witness thunderstorms in the evening following a day of hot and humid weather.

Meteorologist Alex Burkill mentioned the potential for thunderstorms in the southeast later on Thursday due to the influx of hot, humid air from the south. Despite the anticipated rain, total rainfall amounts are predicted to be relatively low for the week, with some areas potentially receiving over 50 millimeters of rain.

The weather maps depict the rain band enveloping Ireland, Northern Ireland, and parts of West Scotland starting at 6 am on Thursday. By 10 am, most of Scotland and Northern Ireland will be under the rain band, extending to North West England with heavy patches over Cumbria.

Throughout the day, the rain band is projected to move eastwards, covering the North East by 1 pm, spanning over 500 miles from North Wales to Northern Scotland. By 4 pm, Northern Ireland is expected to clear up, while heavy rain showers are forecast for Cumbria, the Pennines, and parts of the North East.
