Tommy Fury emerged victorious over the towering strongman Eddie Hall in a contentious battle that divided fans. Initially struggling against Hall’s immense size, Fury eventually found his rhythm, evading the older opponent’s advances and landing his own punches. Two of the three guest judges awarded Fury the win, while the third judge called it a draw, leading to mixed reactions among spectators.
Acknowledging Hall’s strength and agility, Fury commended his opponent, stating, “Anyone who doubts Eddie Hall’s fighting abilities should think again. He may be large, but he’s quick and in good shape. Kudos to Eddie Hall for a thrilling night in Manchester.”
Hall, competing in only his second boxing match, admitted, “Tommy proved elusive. I had to maintain a high level of energy to keep up with his pace, which ultimately worked against me. I aim to return to MMA, but I won’t shy away from boxing opportunities.”
During his entrance, Fury revealed his newborn son’s name, Midas, born to him and his fiancée Molly-Mae Hague. He made a grand entrance to the tune of England’s football anthem, while Hall made a swift entrance into the ring.
The fight commenced with Fury aggressively engaging Hall from the start, despite the weight disadvantage. As the rounds progressed, Fury focused on targeting Hall’s body to slow him down, while Hall’s relentless pursuit kept the pressure on. Despite a slower pace in the later rounds, Fury managed to land strategic punches, evading Hall’s attempts. Ultimately, the judges scored the fight 59-56, 58-56, 57-57 in favor of Fury.
Guest officials Tony Bellew, Derek Chisora, and Chase DeMoor oversaw the match and rendered their verdict, solidifying Fury’s victory.
