Three pedestrians were injured when a vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a bowling alley after a collision. The incident occurred at the junction of Oakwell Drive on Derby Road in Ilkeston, resulting in a five-hour road closure. The driver, Callum Thompson from Ilkeston, has been charged with multiple offenses including criminal damage, endangering life, failure to provide a specimen for analysis, assault, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Derbyshire police reported the charges and mentioned that the 21-year-old is in custody pending a court appearance at Derby Magistrates’ Court on June 15. Images from the scene depicted the extensive damage caused by the vehicle crashing into the bowling alley. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue responded to the incident, confirming structural damage to the building due to the impact.
Following the crash, MFA Bowl officials announced the temporary closure of the site due to the unforeseen circumstances. In a social media statement, they expressed gratitude to the emergency services for their assistance and reassured customers that they would reopen once permitted. The company emphasized that the injured pedestrians suffered minor injuries and appreciated the support and well-wishes from the community.
