An investigation into a homicide has been initiated following the discovery of a deceased man inside the previous TGI Fridays establishment in Sheffield.
On Thursday (June 11), two women, aged 35 and 54, were apprehended under suspicion of murder after authorities from South Yorkshire Police responded to reports of questionable activities at the deserted location the previous night. During their investigation at the scene, officers discovered the deceased, a 55-year-old male.
The identity of the man has not been formally confirmed, but his family has been informed and is being assisted by law enforcement. A perimeter around the vicinity is anticipated to be in effect until today (Friday, June 12).
DCI Laura Procter, the Senior Investigating Officer, stated: “Since the discovery of the deceased man, authorities have been actively conducting various investigations to establish a comprehensive understanding of the events leading to this incident.
“I am especially interested in hearing from anyone who might have witnessed any suspicious activities in the vicinity of the TGI Fridays establishment in the days preceding Wednesday,” as per Yorkshire Live.
“We are committed to uncovering the truth, and this has led to the detention of two women who are currently in custody for interrogation. If you possess any information that could aid our investigation, regardless of its significance, please come forward.”

TGI Fridays has promptly distanced itself from the property, confirming that the Sheffield Road establishment ceased operations in January 2026 and is no longer under the ownership of the company or any affiliated entity.
The Sheffield branch was among 16 UK locations that shut down following the administration of TGI Fridays’ UK operator.
