“Knifeman Prompts Coventry Nursery Lockdown”

A man wielding knives caused a nursery to go into lockdown when he entered the premises, leading to a police response in Coventry. The incident occurred at the Park Edge Family Hub on Roseberry Avenue, where Bell Green Nursery is located, with officers detaining the man at 10:40 am yesterday.

Upon arrival, medics discovered that the man had sustained severe injuries and promptly transported him to University Hospital Coventry (UHCW) for treatment. Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries, and the knives used were successfully retrieved.

Following medical attention at UHCW, the man was discharged and taken into custody by the West Midlands Police for further questioning. The police spokesperson stated that they received reports of a man carrying knives on Roseberry Avenue and swiftly arrested him on suspicion of possessing a bladed object without causing harm or injury.

West Midlands Ambulance Service also responded to the incident, providing medical assistance to the injured man before transferring him to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further care.

A representative from Bell Green Nursery emphasized that the individual did not enter the nursery or come into contact with any children, staff, or families. The nursery promptly implemented safety protocols, ensuring the well-being of all children during the lockdown, which lasted approximately 40 minutes. Parents were promptly informed and cooperated with the situation, showing appreciation for the nursery staff’s handling of the incident.

The nursery expressed gratitude for the professionalism and swift actions of their staff and thanked parents for their support and understanding throughout the challenging situation.
