The doctor, aged in his 50s, sustained multiple stab wounds during the assault at Hillingdon Hospital in the western part of the city.
Emergency medical personnel provided initial treatment to the doctor at the hospital on Pield Heath Road before he was subsequently transferred to a specialized trauma center for further care. The suspect was apprehended by the Metropolitan Police, who were already present at the location for an unrelated matter.
Mahdi Abdullahi, 27, residing on Pield Heath Road in Hillingdon, was taken into police custody and later charged with causing serious bodily harm with intent. Abdullahi appeared in court before Uxbridge magistrates where he faced additional charges of weapon possession and knife theft.
