Weather forecasts indicate that 11 counties in the UK may experience temperatures of 5 degrees Celsius or lower, with the Met Office cautioning about upcoming weather changes. Following peak temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius recorded at Heathrow and Kew Gardens in London, a notably cooler period is anticipated for next week. The scorching bank holiday weekend recently witnessed the UK breaking its historical May temperature record, with Kew Gardens reaching 34.8 degrees Celsius. Subsequently, early next Tuesday, minimum temperature projections show temperatures ranging from 4 to 7 degrees Celsius in Scotland and northern England.
Northern Ireland, the Midlands, southern England, and Wales are expected to experience minimum temperatures in the high single digits. Specific regions in Scotland, such as the Highlands, Moray, Aberdeenshire, and Jamestown in Dumfries and Galloway, might see temperatures drop to as low as 4 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office’s forecast for June 1 to June 10 describes a variable weather pattern with Atlantic weather systems moving in from the west, bringing a mix of dry spells, showers, and occasional rain. Drier conditions are more probable in the south and east, while rain is expected to be more frequent in the west and northwest, interspersed with dry intervals. Temperatures are likely to remain near-normal, with warmer conditions expected in eastern areas, accompanied by occasional breeziness primarily in the northwest.
Looking ahead to June 11 to June 25, the Met Office predicts initially changeable or unsettled conditions, transitioning to more settled weather due to increasing high pressure from mid-month. Temperatures are forecasted to start near normal but rise above average later in the period, according to the national weather service.
