“Woman dies during Brazilian butt lift surgery”

A tragic incident occurred as a woman passed away during a Brazilian butt lift procedure. Barbara Laura Souza Félix, aged 27, underwent the surgery at a private clinic to have fat extracted from her abdomen and back and injected into her buttocks. Unfortunately, medical staff noticed a sudden decline in her lung function during the surgery, leading to cardiac arrest.

Despite efforts to revive her for over an hour, Barbara was pronounced dead at 12:20pm. Medical professionals suspect that a pulmonary embolism, possibly linked to the fat transfer, was the primary cause of her death. The police initiated an investigation into the case, and her body was sent for a post-mortem examination.

Barbara, a sales worker from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, was unmarried, childless, and had no known underlying health issues. Described by her relatives as a vibrant and responsible individual who cherished life, she had plans to relocate abroad. Her family raised concerns about the procedure and the response time following the incident.

The surgeon’s attorney mentioned that all necessary pre-operative evaluations were conducted, and standard clinical protocols were adhered to. The incident has drawn attention to the risks associated with Brazilian butt lifts, with increasing global scrutiny on the procedure due to higher complication rates.

The clinic is facing scrutiny after a previous fatality from a pulmonary embolism at the same facility in 2021. Barbara’s death is being investigated as a potential medical mishap and is currently under active police review in Minas Gerais.
