Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his first home run of the season at Rogers Centre as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Baltimore Orioles 8-1 on Sunday. The 2023 Home Run Derby champion smashed a 350-foot drive into the left field bullpen off Trevor Rogers in the fifth inning, marking his ninth homer of the year in Toronto’s 75th home game. The dugout erupted in celebration, with Blue Jays manager John Schneider praising Guerrero as the team’s star player.
Guerrero, who boasts a .265 batting average and 56 RBIs in 135 games, received a standing ovation from the sellout crowd of 41,805 and acknowledged their support with a curtain call. This home run was Guerrero’s 29th against Baltimore, the most he has hit against any opponent, and it would have cleared the fence in six other major league stadiums.
The talented slugger, who hit eight home runs in last year’s postseason, including three at Rogers Centre, had not hit a regular season home run in Toronto since August 17, 2025. Guerrero had an impressive performance on Sunday, recording his second four-hit game of the season and narrowly missing another home run by smashing a double off the right-center wall in his second at-bat.
