Ukraine has reportedly received support from the United States to escalate its offensive actions against Russia with the goal of pressuring Vladimir Putin to engage in negotiations, as per a recent report.
According to a senior Ukrainian official cited by the Kyiv Independent, US President Donald Trump advised Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in a private meeting to take more assertive actions against Russian infrastructure. The official mentioned that Trump expressed skepticism about Putin’s willingness to act without external pressure.
Recent developments include Trump’s comments at the G7 summit in France urging Moscow to reach a resolution in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, highlighting the toll on both Russian and Ukrainian populations.
In response, Ukraine has utilized medium-range drones to disrupt Russian supply routes and launched long-range strikes targeting critical oil facilities crucial to the Kremlin’s war funding efforts. Ukrainian forces have also conducted coordinated attacks on key infrastructure in Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.
With diplomatic efforts at a standstill, Ukraine has intensified its efforts to disrupt supply chains and electricity networks in Crimea, particularly during the busy summer season. Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov revealed plans to isolate Crimea using drone technology, potentially causing unforeseen challenges for the Russian forces.
Recent drone strikes by Ukraine have targeted oil-related infrastructure deep within Russian territory, including oil refineries supporting Moscow’s military operations. Ukrainian President Zelensky confirmed drone attacks on a significant oil refinery in Russia’s Tyumen region, located over 1,200 miles from Ukraine.
The ongoing conflict has seen increased aggression from both sides, with Russia conducting strikes across Ukraine resulting in casualties. The situation remains volatile, with both countries engaging in strategic military actions in the region.
