After experiencing a scorching heatwave last week with temperatures reaching 35C, the weather has now cooled down to more typical levels for this time of year. However, it is expected that some parts of the UK may see a rise in temperatures back up to 30C in the coming days.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are projected to peak between 19C and 22C across the country this week. There is a possibility of thunderstorms and heavy showers expected tomorrow.
Although the current weather conditions are moderate, the GFS weather model suggests that temperatures could soar back up to 30C as early as June 11, particularly in the south-east, including areas around London.
The weather model indicates that similar high temperatures could occur on June 15 in the south-east, with potential highs of 28C extending as far north as Yorkshire. On June 16, temperatures in the south-east may reach 30C again, while the rest of the UK could experience temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s.
Temperature anomaly maps for the upcoming period show regions in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland highlighted in deep red, indicating temperatures above the seasonal average. These maps suggest that 16 counties could witness temperatures of 28C or higher over the next three days.
The Met Office has warned of the likelihood of hot temperatures in some areas by the end of the month, along with the possibility of thunderstorms. The forecast for June 16 to 30 indicates a relatively settled start to the period with drier conditions expected in most parts of the UK. However, showers or rain are still possible, with temperatures likely to be above normal. Towards the end of June, there may be an increase in heavy showers and thunderstorms, especially in the south, where hot weather could prevail.
