“UK Set for Extreme 35C Heatwave After Record June”

Britons should brace themselves for more scorching weather as temperatures are expected to reach up to 35C following a record-breaking June.

Weather forecasts indicate that 30 counties will experience temperatures of 30C or higher next Wednesday (July 8) through Thursday as a wave of hot air sweeps across England.

The UK recently set a provisional June temperature record of 37.7C in Lingwood, Norfolk, surpassing the previous record of 35.6C from 1976 by over 2 degrees, according to the Met Office.

The Met Office projects that temperatures in the south will start in the low to mid-20s this week but are anticipated to rise to the high 20s or early 30s over the weekend and into the following week.

Latest Netweather charts suggest that the hottest conditions will initially emerge in central and southern England on Wednesday before moving eastward on Thursday, with London, the Home Counties, Essex, Kent, and East Anglia experiencing the highest temperatures.

Temperatures on Wednesday are forecasted to climb into the low 30s across large parts of southern and central England, with some areas in Oxfordshire and neighboring counties potentially reaching 35C.

By Thursday, the extreme heat zone is expected to expand further eastward, with numerous counties likely to exceed 30C as temperatures soar again. Extensive areas of the Midlands are also set to remain above 30C, while the intense heat will cover much of England.

In the north, parts of Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, and Merseyside are likely to approach 30C as warm air moves through England.

The maps show that on Wednesday and Thursday, the core of the heat will shift eastward, turning southern and eastern England deep red as temperatures rise into the low and mid-30s.

Wales is predicted to see temperatures ranging from the mid to high 20s, while eastern Scotland could reach around 27C or 28C. Northern Ireland, western Scotland, and the far north are expected to experience cooler temperatures, avoiding the most intense heat.

The Met Office forecast for July 6-15 indicates that high pressure will dominate across England and Wales, bringing dry and warm conditions with ample sunshine. Scotland and Northern Ireland may initially have more cloud and occasional rain, but they could also experience drier and warmer weather as the high pressure extends northwards. Temperatures are expected to be warm, with localized hot conditions in parts of the southeast.
