Downing Street has accused JD Vance of attempting to meddle in UK democracy and incite division in the streets by getting involved in the controversy surrounding Henry Nowak’s murder. The US Vice President attributed Mr. Nowak’s death to immigration, suggesting it symbolized the decline of British civilization.
Allegations were made by Vance that the police showed no trust or concern for Mr. Nowak, whose killing has been exploited as a cultural battleground by right-wing figures. In response, a spokesperson from Downing Street denounced the interference in democracy and efforts to sow discord.
Amid violent protests stemming from Digwa’s claims of a racial attack and the mistreatment of Mr. Nowak by the police, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was accused of inciting unrest against the wishes of the Nowak family. Vance has consistently criticized the UK, claiming a regression in conscience rights and religious liberties.
The US State Department recently accused Britain of practicing “two-tier policing” and “ideological conditioning,” labeling them as signs of societal decay. Vance reaffirmed this stance, emphasizing the tragic nature of Mr. Nowak’s death and attributing it to systemic failures.
Downing Street reiterated that an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances of Mr. Nowak’s case, acknowledging the significant public concern it has raised. They refuted any notions of unequal policing in the UK and affirmed the strength of the UK-US relationship.
