“Tumultuous Scenes at Bournemouth Beach Amid Record Heatwave”

A tumultuous situation unfolded at Bournemouth beach as a large crowd gathered on the UK’s hottest May day ever. Dorset Police reported on Tuesday evening that they were managing a disturbance involving a significant number of individuals in the Undercliff Drive area of the beach, with some reports of assaults on officers.

Law enforcement officials, along with support from the NPAS helicopter, are actively making arrests and working to disperse the involved parties. The police emphasized a zero-tolerance stance towards any violent behavior and assaults on officers.

Assistant Chief Constable Mark Callaghan expressed gratitude towards the law-abiding public for their cooperation while issuing a stern warning to those seeking to cause harm or engage in violence to vacate the premises. He assured a heightened police presence in the area to ensure the safety of the public and officers. An investigation has been initiated to apprehend those accountable for the disturbance.

The incident coincided with the UK setting a new record for the hottest May day on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 35C at Heathrow and Kew Gardens in London, as reported by the Met Office. These new figures followed a scorching bank holiday weekend where the UK surpassed its previous May temperature record. Kew Gardens registered 34.8C on Monday, surpassing the previous record set in 1922 and 1944.
