A traveler shared a cost-saving tip on a recent Ryanair flight by utilizing a £15 neck pillow. Leon Docwra ingeniously packed essential clothing items like underwear, T-shirts, swimming shorts, and a beach towel inside the travel pillow before boarding the flight.
To avoid excess luggage charges, the 50-year-old wore two tracksuits, three pairs of pants, and three pairs of socks. Leon, a frequent flyer, revealed that this method helped him circumvent additional fees that he had faced previously.
Leon, hailing from Great Yarmouth, explained his motivation behind the strategy, stating, “We fly often and have encountered charges for exceeding baggage limits. We sought a way to carry extra items without incurring fees.”
During the flight from Norwich to Portugal, where he had only paid for hand luggage totaling around £400, Leon concealed multiple items within the pillow, including boxer shorts, socks, T-shirts, swimming shorts, and a beach towel.
Expressing his intentions to continue this money-saving tactic, Leon affirmed, “I will employ this technique every time. Flights are already costly, and avoiding additional charges and fines is crucial.”
Leon showcased his innovative packing method online through a video, receiving praise for the clever travel hack. He shared, “People find it impressive and are considering adopting the same approach. Any opportunity to save money is worth sharing with others.”
The online response included one individual sharing their experience of wearing multiple layers during travel to avoid extra expenses, even though it led to discomfort. Others commended the idea, drawing parallels to the character Joey from Friends.
The conversation further extended to suggestions on potentially altering airline policies to counter such tactics and reflections on personal experiences with excessive fees on past trips.
