Tragic Collision Claims Three Lives in Foam Lake

Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident near Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred when a truck attempted to overtake a semi-truck and collided with an SUV on a grid road about nine kilometers west of Foam Lake, according to a statement released by the RCMP on Saturday. Foam Lake is situated approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Regina.

The victims, a 40-year-old woman, an eight-year-old girl, and a five-year-old girl, all residents of Foam Lake, were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services (EMS).

An adult male who was also in the SUV sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital by STARS, as mentioned in the statement.

The truck driver, along with two passengers, was transported to the hospital for medical attention. One passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the other passenger sustained serious injuries, reported EMS and STARS respectively.

The driver of the semi-truck did not sustain any physical injuries, and the vehicle was undamaged in the collision.

According to the RCMP, a 40-year-old individual named Kelly Knopf from Sumter, South Carolina, was arrested and charged with three counts each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.

Knopf is set to make an appearance in Yorkton Provincial Court on Monday. The investigation is ongoing, led by Wadena/Foam Lake RCMP with the support of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
