In a unique approach to catching criminals, police officers in Thailand went undercover at a street dance festival dressed in drag costumes. Led by Police Colonel Panthep Panadi, five men and one woman from the Tha Luang Police department donned colorful skin-tight dresses to disguise themselves for a covert operation.
Their mission resulted in the arrest of a suspect named Mekha Fa-wap-wap, who was found in possession of over 53 meth pills, 200 plastic bags for drug distribution, and a mobile phone. The arrest took attendees by surprise, turning what was expected to be a festive day into a drug bust.
Facing charges of drug possession for sale and operating an illegal slot machine, the suspect is currently in police custody awaiting legal proceedings. The police officers, proud of their successful operation, shared a photo on social media showing the suspect with officers in drag costumes, garnering over a thousand likes and 130 comments.
The Tha Luang Police engaged with comments on social media, responding humorously to users who found the suspect’s name amusing. This incident adds to the police department’s reputation for using unconventional disguises to apprehend suspects, as seen in a previous case where officers dressed in dragon costumes to capture a thief.
