Terry Butcher Supports Keegan and Dalglish

Former England captain Terry Butcher has extended his support to his former rivals Kevin Keegan and Kenny Dalglish. Butcher, aged 67, reminisced about facing off against the two football legends during the 1980s and 1990s after both disclosed their battles with cancer. The ex-Three Lions defender, who led England in the 1990 World Cup, praised Keegan and Dalglish, describing them as iconic figures in the sport.

Butcher emphasized that cancer does not discriminate and highlighted the competitive spirit shared with Keegan and Dalglish during their playing days. He expressed optimism for their recovery, acknowledging their resilience and determination. The tribute to the two renowned figures took place during a screening of a documentary centered on Butcher’s life in London.

Fans also voiced their admiration for Keegan, with one lauding him as the only British player to win the Ballon d’Or twice and a respected figure at every club he played for. Another fan praised Keegan’s exceptional skills and managerial style, reminiscing about his impactful presence in the football world.

Messages of support poured in from fellow football personalities, including Steven Gerrard and Alan Shearer, offering their well wishes to Keegan and Dalglish during their health challenges. The football community rallied around the two legends, showing solidarity in difficult times.

Terry Butcher, now 67, spoke at the premiere of ‘Butcher: Invisible Wounds,’ a poignant documentary shedding light on his life journey and the tragic loss of his son Chris in 2017. Chris, the elder of Terry and Rita’s three sons, faced hardships after his military service and tragically passed away at their residence in Suffolk a decade ago.

An investigation revealed that Chris succumbed to heart complications exacerbated by drug effects, amid a backdrop of PTSD from his deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Terry expressed gratitude to ITV and combat2coffee, a charity founded by Nigel Seaman, a former Royal Anglian Regiment member battling PTSD. Nigel commended Terry’s efforts with the charity, emphasizing the life-saving impact of his work and the documentary.

Don’t miss ‘Butcher: Invisible Wounds’ airing on ITV4 on Sunday, June 7, at 10 pm. Visit www.combat2coffee.co.uk for more information on combat2coffee.
