Police have apprehended a 15-year-old in connection with a shooting incident at a festival that resulted in the deaths of three individuals. The tragic event occurred near Seattle’s Space Needle during the weekend, with four others sustaining injuries as confirmed by the city’s mayor, Katie Wilson.
Mayor Wilson stated that law enforcement officers swiftly responded to the gunfire report shortly after 6pm, leading to the arrest of one suspect on the scene. It is suspected that two individuals engaged in a shootout outside the Seattle Center Armory.
Among the casualties were a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man, and a 56-year-old woman. The 15-year-old suspect was taken into custody by the authorities following the incident, with investigations ongoing to uncover further details.
Efforts to locate a potential second suspect are ongoing. Witness Faith Adia Hunter recounted being in close proximity to the gunman with her friends and seeking safety at the Seattle Children’s Museum as the chaos unfolded. Vendors at the festival fled their stands upon hearing the gunshots, leaving behind their belongings.
Following the ordeal, attendees lingered outside the cordoned-off area, awaiting permission to retrieve their belongings. Vendor Roberto Ramirez described the panic and confusion that ensued as people scrambled to safety upon hearing the alarming sounds.
