Canadian swimmer Taylor Ruck narrowly missed claiming the gold medal in the women’s 50-meter freestyle event at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Hailing from Kelowna, British Columbia, the 26-year-old finished second with a time of 23.68 seconds, a mere 5-100ths of a second behind Poland’s Kasia Wasick.
Kasia Wasick, who has been unbeaten in short-course races in this event since December 2022, secured the top spot. In the men’s 100-meter individual medley, Finlay Knox from Okotoks, Alberta, clinched third place with a time of 51.65.
Australian swimmer Cameron McEvoy set a new World Cup record in the men’s 50-meter freestyle with an impressive time of 20.13 seconds, marking it as the second-fastest swim in history. The competition spans three days with more events scheduled for Friday.
