Stand up to Racism strongly criticized individuals propagating hateful messages in the aftermath of Henry Nowak’s tragic death. The Anti-racist organization expressed sympathy for the family of the 18-year-old victim and condemned the alleged mishandling of his case by Hampshire police. Vickrum Digwa, 23, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years for fatally stabbing Henry on December 3, 2025.
Various far-right figures in the UK and globally have exploited the outrage surrounding Henry’s murder. Nigel Farage of Reform UK intervened in the discourse, insinuating a bias against white individuals in Britain. A protest against the police turned violent near the location of Henry’s death in Southampton, prompting Stand up to Racism to issue a statement.
The organization’s message, posted on Instagram, conveyed condolences to Henry Nowak’s family and decried the exploitation of his tragic death by far-right extremists. The statement highlighted the attempts of known fascists and far-right activists to manipulate the situation for their divisive agenda. It emphasized the importance of unity against racism and hatred.
Over 1,000 demonstrators gathered to protest against the police officers involved in Henry’s arrest at Southampton Central Police station. While initially peaceful, the protest turned aggressive as some participants threw objects at the police, leading to clashes and officers retreating from the scene. Despite the chaos, voices within the crowd echoed their support for Henry’s family and concerns about the state of the country.
The incident underscored the importance of honoring Henry’s memory amidst the turmoil of the protest. However, the message of unity and justice was overshadowed by the violent actions of some demonstrators towards law enforcement. Police faced challenges in maintaining order as tensions escalated, culminating in clashes and efforts to disperse the crowd.
