Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Busy Street in Prince George

Emergency responders rushed to a section of northern Prince George on Thursday after a small plane appeared to make an emergency landing on a busy street. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. PT on Foothills Boulevard close to Highland Drive, as reported by the Prince George RCMP.

Witness Mohit Arora recounted turning onto Foothills Boulevard just as the plane descended onto the road. He described a pickup truck being struck by the plane’s left wing, resulting in injuries to the truck driver, who fortunately survived. Arora also mentioned how the plane’s propeller narrowly missed his own vehicle, stopping only about 10 feet away.

The scene prompted RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper to note ongoing triage efforts with other first responders in the area. Cooper highlighted that two additional vehicles were caught up in the unfolding events, making it challenging for drivers to anticipate and react swiftly.

Despite the dramatic nature of the incident, it remains unclear if there were any casualties. Prince George Fire Rescue acknowledged responding to a serious accident involving a plane while the Transportation Safety Board disclosed that a Beech King Air 200 aircraft was involved, prompting an investigative team deployment to the location.

Photographs taken by Arora depicted the damaged aircraft with a broken propeller on the road, a yellow car crashed nearby, and a pickup truck with apparent debris from the plane’s impact visible through its front windshield. The aircraft exhibited noticeable wing damage.

Authorities advised the public to steer clear of the area, as the road closure was anticipated to last a significant duration due to the extensive cleanup and investigation activities.

This is an ongoing story, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
