“Search Continues for Missing Boy in River Don”

An 11-year-old boy, identified as Mackenzie Swift, was reported missing after entering the River Don in Doncaster. Authorities have informed his family that survival in the water for such a duration is unlikely. The search for Mackenzie was initiated by South Yorkshire Police on Saturday evening near Ferry Boat Lane in Mexborough.

Collaborating with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team, and an underwater search team, the police continued their efforts to locate Mackenzie on Monday, as per Yorkshire Live. Despite ongoing searches, the police stated that if Mackenzie had not come out of the river on Saturday, it would be improbable for him to have survived in the water for this long.

Expressing sympathy for Mackenzie’s family, the police mentioned that no evidence has been found indicating his exit from the water. The family is receiving support and updates on the search progress. Chief Superintendent Pete Thorp, the Doncaster District Commander, emphasized the commitment to finding Mackenzie and supporting his family during this challenging time. Specialized resources and organizations are being utilized in the search operation.

The public is urged to refrain from conducting search activities near water bodies to avoid potential risks. The search efforts are focused on locating Mackenzie, with operational activities set to resume on Tuesday morning. The search teams’ thoughts are with Mackenzie and his family during this extensive operation.
