A young woman, Lyudmila Turkova, who had gone missing while on vacation in Serbia, was tragically discovered dead inside a suitcase. She disappeared after leaving a nightclub in Belgrade to meet friends and her body was found in the Vizelj canal by locals who alerted the authorities.
The suspect in her murder, a 25-year-old Turkish man known as K.E., was apprehended at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport as he tried to leave the country. Reports indicate that he is the primary suspect in the case, although the police have not disclosed the details of Turkova’s death.
Turkova, a Russian national who worked as a promoter, bartender, and body-art model, had planned to stay in Belgrade for two weeks but went missing on July 25. Described as 5ft 1inch tall with distinctive tattoos and a nose piercing, her remains were identified by a police dog in the water. The investigation is ongoing, and further details about the cause of her death will be determined after an autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine.
