Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to travel to the UK soon for a significant event leading up to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, accompanied by their children Archie and Lilibet, are planning to attend the occasion as a family. Sources suggest that Harry is feeling a deep sense of sadness due to the lack of connection with his homeland.
Although Harry has visited the UK multiple times after stepping back from his royal duties in 2020, this trip will mark Meghan’s first visit to England since the funeral of the late Queen in 2022.
The upcoming event will commemorate the one-year countdown to the Birmingham Games, fulfilling Harry’s long-held desire to bring his family back to his native land. A source mentioned that it has been a source of sadness for Harry that he couldn’t safely bring his wife and children to the UK earlier to reunite with relatives and friends.
The Duke is eager to introduce his children to their extended family and show them the country where he grew up. The Mirror has reached out to the spokespersons of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, representatives of the Invictus Games, and Buckingham Palace for comments.
During their last visit to the UK in 2022 for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Prince Archie, aged seven, and Princess Lilibet, aged five, had the chance to meet King Charles for the first time. There is uncertainty regarding whether the Sussexes will meet with King Charles or other members of the Royal Family during their upcoming visit, given the strained relationships.
Harry last met his father in September last year during his visit to London for the annual WellChild Awards, where he had a private tea with him at Clarence House. Despite Harry’s expressed desire to bring his family back to the UK, challenges with his security detail have been a significant obstacle. The Home Office had initiated a review of Harry’s police protection in December, but there has been no public update on the outcome.
While there hasn’t been any official confirmation regarding the reunion, it is reported that necessary precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of the Sussexes during their visit to Britain.
