“Police Uncover Multiple Suspicious Items in Fallowfield”

Police investigating a suspicious item in a front garden in Fallowfield have uncovered another suspicious item inside a nearby home. The second item was found outside a property on Rostherne Avenue on Sunday afternoon, according to Greater Manchester Police. No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.

This discovery follows a previous incident where police responded to a suspicious item on Abram Close, which is connected to Rostherne Avenue, on Saturday evening. A bomb disposal unit assessed the item, leading to the evacuation of residents in approximately 20 nearby properties as a precaution. The cordon was later lifted, allowing residents to return that night.

On Sunday afternoon, the police reinstated a cordon and evacuated several homes in the area. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams returned to the scene, deploying specialized explosives robots.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Morley stated, “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue to investigate this incident. While such events may cause concern in the community, there is no broader threat. Road closures are in effect, so it is advisable to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.”

He further added, “Officers are present to ensure the safety of the local residents. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to approach them. Providing any information, regardless of its significance, is crucial for our investigation to progress.”
