“Pirate-Themed Ship Sinks in Med Sea with British Tourists”

A ship themed after pirates, carrying nearly 150 individuals, including British tourists, has sunk in the Mediterranean Sea. The vessel, known as “Big Boss Diamond,” went down close to Paradise Island on the Mediterranean shore on May 29. Reports indicate that there were 148 people aboard at the time of the incident.

Videos shared on social media depicted individuals leaping off the sinking ship, while others clung to the vessel. Among the passengers were 20 children. The ship started taking in water in Akvaryum Bay and fully submerged within an hour, leaving only its masts and rigging visible above the water.

Rescue teams swiftly responded to aid those on board, successfully bringing everyone to safety on land. A British passenger who experienced the sinking expressed relief at being alive and off the ship. The MuÄŸla Governorship released a statement confirming the evacuation of citizens on the vessel without any casualties or injuries.

The ship’s owners tout it as the largest pirate ship in Turkey, also serving as a “family party boat.” Offering trips around various Turkish islands, the boat provides unlimited alcoholic beverages for a fee of £35. The boat operator reassured concerned guests on their Instagram account of everyone’s safety and announced plans to continue their boat trips with another vessel, Big Boss Yagna.

The cause of the sinking remains unclear, although some passengers mentioned a fire in the engine.
