Noemie Brochart and Shay Ciezki each contributed 15 points as the Phoenix Mercury dominated the Toronto Tempo with a resounding 101-69 victory on Saturday evening. This win marked the second-largest winning margin for Phoenix this season, following their impressive 99-66 season opener against the Las Vegas Aces.
In addition to Brochart and Ciezki’s standout performances, Sami Whitcomb added 14 points, while Marta Suarez and Maddy Westbeld, coming off the bench, chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively. Lexi Held also made a significant impact with 11 points, helping the Mercury (14-26) snap a four-game losing streak.
Alyssa Thomas showcased her playmaking skills by distributing 12 assists, marking her 11th game this season with 10 or more assists. On the Tempo side, Isabelle Harrison posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Kiki Rice and Laura Juskaite contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively. The Tempo (11-29) were without their top scorer, Marina Mabrey, who has been sidelined for the past six games due to an adductor injury.
Phoenix took an early lead of 21-8 and maintained control throughout the game. By halftime, the Mercury had extended their lead to 58-35, and a dominant 30-point third quarter further solidified their lead at 88-49 by the end of the third quarter.
