The 27-year-old athlete from the United States disclosed that the accident occurred during her commute to a training session, resulting in the decision, made in collaboration with her team, to bring an early end to her 2026 season, as shared by Davis-Woodhall on social media on Monday.
Expressing her disappointment and resilience, the 2024 Paris Games champion stated, “This setback is challenging for me. It’s a mix of sadness, disillusionment, and pain. I firmly believe this setback is a crucial part of my journey. There must be a purpose behind this… I will return stronger.” The Ultimate Championship, World Athletics’ new season-culminating event, is scheduled to run from Friday to Sunday in Budapest, Hungary.
