“Neo-Nazi Sentenced to 13 Years for Mass Shooting Plot”

A 22-year-old neo-Nazi, Alfie Coleman, has been sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison for planning a mass shooting. Coleman, from Great Notley in Essex, was convicted of preparing for terrorist acts after a retrial at the Old Bailey.

The court learned that Coleman had delved into extreme right-wing content online since the age of 14, downloading neo-Nazi material on his iPad. He compiled a list of individuals, including colleagues and customers from his previous job at Tesco, labeling them with racial slurs and marking them as “race traitors.” Coleman even drafted a diary “manifesto” outlining potential targets like the Lord Mayor of London and a mosque.

MI5 undercover agents engaged with Coleman as he tried to purchase weapons, leading to his arrest. He had arranged to buy firearms in France, planning to target a local mosque but later abandoned the idea. The operation culminated in Coleman’s arrest in a Morrisons car park in east London, where he attempted to acquire a handgun and ammunition from an undercover officer.

Upon searching Coleman’s residence, authorities found evidence of his extremist beliefs, including admiration for a notorious killer of a British MP. Various weapons, extremist literature, and a flag associated with neo-Nazism were discovered in his possession. Electronic devices revealed his communication with white supremacist groups and detailed plans for terrorist activities.

During the trial, Coleman admitted to possessing materials useful for terrorism but denied planning an attack. He described feeling isolated and struggling with mental health issues during lockdowns. Counter-terrorism officials highlighted how Coleman, despite a seemingly normal upbringing, became radicalized through online exposure to extreme right-wing ideologies.

The case underscores the concerning trend of individuals radicalizing online and highlights the importance of monitoring and intervention to prevent potential acts of violence.
