This re-signing ensures that the Frost will maintain their core leadership group, which has remained unchanged since securing back-to-back Walter Cup championships in 2024 and 2025. Alongside alternate captains Lee Stecklein and Kelly Pannek, Coyne Schofield expressed excitement about the upcoming seasons and the prospect of reclaiming the Walter Cup for Minnesota through hard work.
Hailing from the Chicago area, Coyne Schofield boasts an impressive resume as a four-time Olympian and two-time gold medalist. She also played a pivotal role in the establishment of the PWHL during the summer of 2023. Despite missing seven games due to an upper-body injury sustained at the Milan-Cortina Games, she concluded last season with 12 goals and 23 points in 23 games. Her career stats of 63 points (30 goals, 33 assists) in 77 PWHL games rank her third on the league’s all-time list.
Initially one of the Frost’s foundational players, Coyne Schofield’s playing status for the upcoming season was uncertain as she remained unsigned, leaving her vulnerable during the PWHL’s expansion process in June. With the recent signing, the Frost’s roster now comprises 17 players, including eight members from their previous cup-winning squads. Despite finishing third in the standings last season, the Frost fell short in a decisive Game 5 during the semifinals against eventual champions Montreal.
