“Liberal Government Proposes Bill to Streamline Federal Processes”

The Liberal government revealed its plan on Wednesday to present a new bill aimed at amending over 30 laws in a bid to streamline processes within the federal bureaucracy. The government, in a recent news release, stated that the proposed bill, S-7, will bring about “targeted amendments to reduce unnecessary regulatory burden.”

The amendments encompass a broad spectrum of areas, such as regulations on fertilizers, bankruptcy procedures, appointments within the Canadian Dairy Commission, management of animal waste, and the integration of electronic tools and new technologies across government departments.

This initiative follows Prime Minister Mark Carney’s directive for a comprehensive review of all federal regulations in July 2025. Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali highlighted in September of the same year that this review had led to departments pinpointing numerous opportunities to streamline bureaucratic processes.
