“John Tory to Lead TIFF Board of Directors”

John Tory, the former mayor of Toronto, has been appointed as the new chair of the board of directors for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Tory expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with TIFF’s leadership, artists, filmmakers, and the wider TIFF community to influence its future direction.

His term officially commences on October 1, as confirmed in a recent news release. The festival is scheduled to take place from September 10 to 20 this year. Tory succeeds Jeffrey Remedios, who held the position of chair since 2021 and commended the festival and its leadership, expressing his eternal pride in his involvement in TIFF’s journey.

Additionally, TIFF introduced three new members to its board of directors: Deborah Flint, David Furnish, and Daniel Tisch Echevarría. On the other hand, Asha Daniere, who served on the board for nine years, is stepping down. TIFF conveyed its gratitude and recognition for her dedicated service and contributions to the organization.
