“Iran Rejects $100 Billion US Offer for Strait of Hormuz Control”

The United States proposed $100 billion to Iran in exchange for ceasing toll charges for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The US and Oman are in discussions to ease Iran’s stance, offering to release a portion of the $100 billion in Iranian funds held overseas. Iran’s negotiator and deputy foreign minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, asserted yesterday that Iran holds authority over the strait, not the US. Tehran issued a warning that any ship deviating from Iran-approved routes would face immediate and severe consequences.
