A tragic incident unfolded as an 86-year-old woman, identified as Beatrice Carruth, passed away due to injuries sustained from a dog attack, according to authorities. The unfortunate event took place at her residence in Moore, Oklahoma, on July 2nd, with officers responding to a distress call around 5:45 pm.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found Carruth with severe injuries and administered immediate aid, including the application of tourniquets to control bleeding until medical professionals arrived. Despite their efforts, Carruth’s condition remained critical as she was transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Moore Police Department expressed condolences to all affected by the incident and confirmed that the dog involved was taken into custody by Moore Animal Control. The dog, described as a mixed breed of Labrador retriever and American pit bull terrier, was later euthanized following assessment by shelter staff.
Reports revealed that Carruth had been caring for the dog while her son, Jason Clay Ingram, was incarcerated. Ingram had a history of violence towards Carruth, as court records indicated his arrest for assaulting her and disrupting emergency communication just prior to the fatal dog attack. Carruth’s family alleges that they had urged Ingram to put down the dog after a prior attack on Carruth, but he insisted she keep caring for the animal.
Family members seek further legal action against Ingram, asserting that Carruth was coerced into maintaining the dangerous dog. The community mourns the loss of Carruth and hopes for accountability in the wake of this tragic event.
