Princess Diana expressed a desire for her sons, William and Harry, to engage in more profound communication. In a letter penned in November 1995 in response to a supportive fan named Michael Barrett after her BBC Panorama interview, Diana conveyed her appreciation for his touching and profound words. She mentioned her anticipation of guiding William and Harry in the importance of deeper communication. The letter, set to be auctioned by Reeman Dansies ‘Royalty, Antiques & Fine Art,’ is expected to fetch between £3,000 and £4,000. Diana’s handwritten correspondence will be up for auction on June 9, described as a significant two-page letter addressed to Mr. Michael Barratt, referring to her Panorama interview and emphasizing the value of self-knowledge and progress in life. Barrett, deeply moved by Diana’s response to his supportive letter, cherished her words. Emails released in 2024 shed light on the scandal surrounding Martin Bashir’s Panorama interview with Diana, revealing deceit and breaches of BBC editorial conduct. Bashir departed the BBC in May 2021 due to health reasons after being found guilty of deception and misconduct by an inquiry in the same year.
