“Deadly Crash on Java Motorway Kills Dozens”

A tragic incident on a busy Indonesian motorway resulted in the death of more than a dozen people when a pickup truck carrying wedding guests was caught between two lorries. The fatal crash occurred on the main island of Java, near Kiajaran Kulon village of Indramayu regency, on a Sunday afternoon.

The group of individuals was returning home after attending a wedding in a nearby village when the collision happened. According to local traffic police chief Undang Syarif Hidayat, the victims were traveling in an open-bed pickup truck that had slowed down to make a U-turn when it was rear-ended by a wing-box truck. The impact forced the pickup truck into the opposite lane, where it was struck by another truck, causing multiple individuals to be thrown onto the highway.

Five survivors are currently receiving medical treatment for injuries of varying severity. Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the factors that led to the accident. Tragically, fatal traffic accidents are a common occurrence in Indonesia due to issues such as overloaded vehicles, inadequate road safety measures, and non-compliance with traffic regulations.
