David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy in Markham with a quick lap time of 1 minute and 14.194 seconds. The second training session of the day saw Malukas leading the way, with Alex Palou coming in second with a time of 1:14.560, followed by Dennis Hauger in third place at 1:14.592 on the Markham downtown road course.
Due to incomplete course construction and pending safety inspections, organizers had to cancel the initial day of track activities. This led to delays in the event schedule. Markham is hosting the race for the first time this year, having previously taken place at Toronto’s Exhibition Place since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had showcased his speed by topping the charts in the morning’s first practice session with a time of 1:14.9915, demonstrating strong performance ahead of the upcoming qualifying rounds scheduled for the evening.
