A child’s car seat, the Kinderkraft Mink Pro 2 and Mink FX 2 Isofix Base, has been flagged as a safety concern by consumer group Which?. Following rigorous crash tests that exceeded legal standards, the product received a 0% score due to the seat shell detaching from the Isofix base during testing, posing a significant risk in a crash scenario. Despite costing £79 with the base, the product only scored 50% when installed using the vehicle seatbelt.
While not subject to a recall, Which? recommends that owners of the Kinderkraft car seat contact the retailer or manufacturer to explore options like replacements or refunds. The car seat was featured in the group’s list of products to avoid in 2026, which includes items ranging from potential safety hazards to underperforming products.
Another highlighted product, the Red Kite Push Me Explor Stroller priced at £95, scored poorly at 43% after a wheel detachment incident during durability testing. In contrast, the Joie MyDrift, priced at £250 but scoring 74%, was praised for its safety and ease of use, earning it a “great value” endorsement.
In health gadget testing, the Braun ExactFit 5 Connect Blood Pressure Monitor, priced at £80, received negative feedback from Which? for providing inaccurate readings that could lead to unnecessary anxiety or misdiagnosis. The Boots Multi-User Blood Pressure Monitor, at just £35, was recommended for its accurate and quick readings.
Additionally, the Silentnight Airmax 800 Air Purifier, priced at £69, scored poorly at 37% for its performance in removing small particles from the air. Conversely, the Blueair Mini Max, priced at £59, scored 65% for effectively reducing airborne particles like dust, pollen, and smoke.
Which? Magazine Editor, Harry Rose, emphasized the importance of independent testing to ensure product quality and safety. Brands and prices do not always guarantee performance, urging consumers to be vigilant about product choices to avoid disappointment or safety risks.
The Kinderkraft spokesperson asserted the product’s compliance with regulations and offered customers exchanges or refunds for peace of mind. Similarly, representatives from Braun, RedKite, and Silentnight defended their products’ quality and safety standards, addressing concerns raised by Which? in the testing reports.
