Sixteen individuals have been barred from Carnival Cruise Line after a violent altercation broke out among passengers waiting in a customs line. The incident unfolded at 8am on Monday, June 22, as the Carnival Conquest ship arrived at Port Miami, Florida, from a Bahamas trip.
Video footage captured the moment two women instigated the clash. One, in a black strapless dress, crossed a queue divider to throw punches at another woman in polka dot pajamas. A third woman, wearing a yellow and white maxi-dress, then joined in, grabbing one of the women by the hair.
The situation escalated as more individuals joined in, leading to chaos with US Customs and Border Protection officers trying to restore order. Luggage and personal items were hurled around the area, and at one point, a man was seen wielding a stanchion above his head as bystanders screamed.
Despite the mayhem, no arrests were made as both parties chose not to press charges. Carnival Cruise Lines has confirmed that the 16 individuals involved have been added to the “Do Not Sail List” following the incident. The cruise company emphasized that such behavior is not tolerated and commended law enforcement for their swift intervention.
This incident comes after a recent altercation on another Carnival cruise, where two women face federal court citations for simple assault following a confrontation while sailing back to Alabama from the Bahamas. The women were informed by US magistrate Judge Bert Milling Jr that their case could be dropped if they avoid further trouble for three months, with a final ruling set for August 12.
