A traveler from Britain reported being drugged, assaulted, and robbed of £1,800 while journeying solo abroad. Jamie Lathan, a 36-year-old rigger from England, recounted the incident starting from a night at a nightclub where he met an Indonesian woman who allegedly spiked his drinks, leading to him feeling unwell and being attacked.
According to Jamie, he was unexpectedly hit from the side and then coerced by the woman to ride on a motorbike with her to his residence. Upon waking up at home fully dressed, he discovered that £1,800 was missing from his bag. He estimated that he lost consciousness for about four hours before regaining awareness feeling disoriented and ill.
The distressing event took place on May 9 in Bali, prompting Jamie to seek medical attention the following day due to two head injuries requiring a total of 23 stitches. Despite not filing a police report, he revisited the nightclub in a bid to access CCTV footage, but was met with refusal from the staff. His attempts to seek assistance from his hotel reception also yielded no results.
Expressing his frustration over the lack of communication or apology following the incident at La Covida nightclub in Denpasar, Bali, Jamie disclosed that the ordeal has significantly impacted his confidence in traveling alone. Concerned friends and family back home were deeply troubled upon learning about the troubling episode during his solitary trip.
