A well-known British girl group recently reunited for a televised performance, marking their first joint appearance in many years. The trio, known as Mis-Teeq, had a string of hits in the early 2000s, including multiple top-ten singles in the UK, as well as success in the US and Australia before disbanding in 2005.
Following the group’s breakup, Alesha Dixon, the resident rapper of Mis-Teeq, pursued a successful solo career, releasing four studio albums and becoming a judge on the popular show “Britain’s Got Talent.” The group, consisting of Dixon, Sabrina Washington, and Su-Elise Nash, made a comeback performance with a medley of their hit songs on the show.
This recent performance was the first time the three members had appeared together since 2004, ahead of their upcoming comeback show at London’s Wembley Arena to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album, “Lickin’ on Both Sides.” Their track “Scandalous” even made its way into the American music scene, reaching number 11 on the US Billboard charts due to its inclusion in the Catwoman movie soundtrack.
Despite their success, Mis-Teeq disbanded in 2005 after their record label, Telstar Records, faced financial difficulties. The label’s demise was partly attributed to signing Victoria Beckham, who released only one single under the label before it went bankrupt.
Fans have reacted positively to the reunion, praising the group for maintaining their youthful looks since their early careers. The resurgence of early 2000s girl groups like Mis-Teeq follows a trend in the music industry, with other groups such as the Pussycat Dolls also making comebacks.
Mis-Teeq is set to embark on a UK and European tour later this year as a trio. However, plans for a North American tour were canceled due to low ticket sales. In a similar vein, Australian pop group Bardot, known for their hits in the early 2000s, continues their comeback with recent performances at music festivals in London and Sydney, receiving positive responses from fans.
