“Blue Jays Acquire Catcher Shawn Ross from Mets”

The Toronto Blue Jays recently acquired catcher Shawn Ross through waivers from the New York Mets. Following the transaction, Ross was then sent to triple-A Buffalo for further development.

With a 26-year-old age, Ross debuted in the MLB earlier this year with the Pittsburgh Pirates, participating in two games before being picked up by the Mets. Throughout this season, Ross has showcased his skills in 70 games across triple-A and double-A, boasting a .184 batting average along with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, and 29 RBIs. Notably, he has also successfully thrown out 14 runners from behind the plate.

Ross originally joined the Pirates as a non-drafted free agent in 2022 after his time at Clarendon Junior College. Accumulating experience over four seasons and 285 minor-league games within the Pirates and Mets organizations, Ross has maintained a .189 batting average, hitting 39 doubles, 53 home runs, and driving in 148 RBIs.
