A leading airline has indicated that it is unlikely to face flight cancellations this summer due to jet fuel shortages as British travelers gear up for popular vacation destinations.
Air France, in collaboration with partner KLM, has stated that they do not anticipate any disruptions to fuel supplies during the months of July and August.
Concerns about potential flight cancellations during the peak summer travel season arose following joint military actions by the US and Israel on key Iranian facilities on February 28. This led to retaliatory strikes by Iran across the Middle East and the temporary closure of the vital Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for global oil trade responsible for 20% of oil transportation.
Despite initial fears, several airlines, including Air France, have downplayed concerns about jet fuel shortages, reassuring travelers that their summer travel plans will proceed as scheduled.
According to a statement from Air France-KLM, the airlines have been closely monitoring fuel availability and have confirmed that they can maintain their flight operations throughout the upcoming summer season. CEO Benjamin Smith affirmed that Air France, KLM, and Transavia will accommodate all customers during this period.
The airlines are set to operate nearly 2,200 flights daily to over 320 destinations worldwide. Additionally, customers will benefit from enhanced flexibility as Air France, KLM, and Transavia are launching a promotional campaign offering free ticket changes for trips departing from France starting June 3, 2026.
Similar flexible arrangements will be introduced by KLM and Transavia for trips originating in the Netherlands. The airlines have also assured customers that any confirmed and paid bookings will not incur fare adjustments in case of increased fuel costs.
Travelers are encouraged to book with confidence, knowing that there will be no unexpected additional charges.
